Hier, ein Tokio Hotel-Tattoo auf meiner Hand. Wurde mir gestern aufgebügelt. Nein! Natürlich aufgeklebt mit’n bisschen Spucke und die Jungs sind gleich bei uns zu Gast. Sie sind dieses Jahr die Comet-Abräumer ohne… schlechthin gewesen, meine ich. Newcomer haben se abgeräumt und dann auch noch den Superpreis, den Super Cometen. Und jetzt könnt ihr einige schöne, noch nie gezeigte Bilder zu Tokio Hotel sehen.

[It] was ironed on my hand yesterday. No! Of course, [it was] stuck on with a bit of spit and the guys will be our guests in a bit. This year they’ve scooped the Comet without… I mean, [they were] THE winners. They’ve scooped “Best Newcomer” and also the super award on top of it, the “Super Comet”. Bill: Alle kriegen Tänzerinnen. Stefan Raab hat auch Tänzerinnen und alle haben Tänzerinnen und wir nich’. Ich finde, wir sollten auch welche haben.
Everybody gets female dancers. Stefan Raab also has got female dancers and everybody has got female dancers and we don’t. I think we also ought to have some.

Tom: Proben sind halt total öde. Also, da ist ja nichts besonderes dranne.
Rehearsals are just totally boring. Meaning, there’s nothing special about it.
Bill: Ja. Vor allem, das ist immer so viel Gewarte und dann kommen die nicht hinterher und irgend so’ne Sachen und so.
Yes. Mainly, it involves lots of waiting around all the time and then they can’t keep up and some things like that and so on.
Tom: Proben sind super ätzend.
Rehearsals suck very much.

Bill: Und ich glaube, diese Aufteilung auch so, erm, dass der Sänger so vorne steht und so weiter und die anderen sich dann mal irgendwie’n bisschen benachteiligt fühlen könnten oder so, das gab’s auch noch nie, muss ich sagen. Gustav ist so mehr der Ruhigere. Der zieht sich ganz gern zurück und ist ganz froh, dass er hinterm Schlagzeug sitzt und erm, nich’ so nach vorne gehen muss.
And I think this kind of layout, like erm, that the focus is on the singer and so on and that the others could somehow feel a bit discriminated or something, that has never happened, I have to say. Gustav is more like the quiet guy. He rather likes to retreat and is quite happy that he sits behind the drums and erm, doesn’t have to go to the front.
(*Gustav to Tom: … steht falsch rum drauf, unten.

Bill: Und erm, Tom, der is’n unglaublicher Poser, muss ich sagen, mit seiner Gitarre. Stärkt er mir von daher den Rücken auf der Bühne. Erm, und Georg ist so mehr der typische Bassist eigentlich. So mehr in sich gekehrt. Die sind ja immer ’n bisschen ruhiger und so. Also, das ist schon so die Aufteilung und jeder ist, glaube ich, damit glücklich, mit seiner Rolle.
And erm, Tom, he’s a tremendous poser with his guitar, I have to say. Therefore he backs me up on stage. Erm, and Georg is actually more like a typical bassist. Like, [he] is more introvert. They’re just always a bit quieter and so on. Well, that’s kind of the layout and I think everybody is happy with their part.
Tom: Bill ist, erm erm… der… sagen wir mal, „Geheimnisvollste“ von uns. Also, er zieht sich gern zurück und erm… macht auch manche Sachen nicht mit. Erm, wenn er keinen Bock hat, haut er halt einfach ab und so. Zieht sich halt mehr so’n bisschen zurück.
Bill is, erm erm… the… let’s just say the “most mysterious one“ of us. Meaning, he likes to retreat and erm… doesn’t participate in a few things. Erm, if he doesn’t feel like it, he just up and leaves and things like that. He just withdraws a bit more.

Bill: Total, ja. Ich wollte… Ich wollte dann aufhören, aber wir haben dann noch so Schatten rumgemacht. Normalerweise wollte ich schon aufhören wo er nur die Umrandungen hatte, aber ich wollte dann auch nicht mit so’nem halben Tattoo rumrennen irgendwie. Aber es war schon extrem schmerzhaft, ja.
Totally, yes. I wanted…I wanted to quit then but we also put, like, shadows around it. Usually I already wanted to quit when he had only done the outlines but then I also didn’t want to walk around with somewhat of half a tattoo. However, it really was extremely painful, yes.
Gülcan: Aber du bist ja ’n harter Junge.

Bill: Genau! Ich hab’ mich zusammen gerissen.

Gülcan: Aber so muss das sein, ne? Einige müssen auch so’n bisschen der ruhigere Pol in der Band sein.
But that’s how it has to be, right? Some people have to be a bit like the calming influence in the band.
Gustav: Eben. Exactly.
Gülcan: Weil sonst geht’s unter. Der ganze Laden.
Because otherwise it’s going down. The whole thing.

Gülcan: Genau. Super Cometen habt ihr gewonnen.
Exactly. You’ve won the Super Comet.
Bill: Ja. Yes.
Gülcan: Und erm… Ist seitdem ’n bisschen mehr passiert? Ist es noch wilder geworden um euch?
And erm… Has there been a little more happening since then? Have things around you become more wild?
Bill: Erm… Also, ich würd’ sagen, das, erm, wird immer mehr so. Wir haben ja immer gedacht so… Unsere, unsere Single, als die dann auf 1 war und so. Wir wussten ja gar nicht mehr so richtig was wir, was wir uns jetzt noch unbedingt wünschen, so mit dem Song. Und dann waren wir auch noch mit dem einen Lied nominiert. Wir wurden ja nachnominiert für den Cometen. Da waren wir schon glücklich und haben dann überhaupt nicht damit gerechnet, weil wir halt nachnominiert wurden, dass wir den gewinnen. Ja, und dann noch den Super Cometen. Also, es war schon krass und es geht irgendwie… wird immer besser.
Erm… Well, I’d say that, erm, it’s getting more and more like that. After all we’ve always been thinking like… Our, our single, when it went to number one and so on. We just didn’t really know anymore what else we’d be dying to wish [to achieve], like, with this song. And then we even got nominated with this one song. We just got nominated subsequently for the Comet. We’ve already been happy with that and didn’t expect to win that one at all because we had simply been nominated subsequently. Yes, and then even the Super Comet on top of it. Well, it was pretty wicked and somehow it just gets… keeps getting better.
Gülcan: Und ist das so, vor so’ner Verleihung… Tom sach’ mal, setzt man sich da vielleicht kurz hin und überlegt „Was sag’ ich vielleicht da?“ oder einfach hin und gar nicht nachdenken?
And prior to such an award ceremony, is it like… Tom tell me, does one maybe sit down and thinks “What am I possibly going to say?” or [is it more like] just go up there and don’t think about it?
Tom: Ja erm, also ich glaube, das ist, wenn man das spontan macht immer am besten. Erm, wir haben uns auch nichts überlegt. Ich glaube, das hat man auch gemerkt bei Bill.
Yes erm, well, I think it’s always better if one does it spontaneously. Erm, we also didn’t think about it. I think one could also see that with Bill.

Gülcan: Also, nichts im Kopf gehabt, gerade?

Bill: Nee, überhaupt nicht. Im Nachhinein denk’ ich mir auch immer so, ich hab’ die Hälfte der Leute vergessen, die ich eigentlich da nennen wollte und das tut mir dann immer ’n bisschen Leid, aber… Ich hatte mir echt nichts zurecht-, zurechtgepackt irgendwie, weil… Ja, ich glaub’, das kommt dann auch so auswendig gelernt. Das ist dann ja auch langweilig.
Yes, totally. Afterwards I also keep thinking, like, I’ve forgotten half the people that I actually wanted to name and then I always feel a bit bad about it but… I hadn’t prepared anything because… Yes, I think it just comes across as if it was rehearsed. That’s also kind of boring.

Gülcan: Ja, da sind se. Bill und Tom: Geschwisterchen von Beruf und auch noch bei Tokio Hotel musizierende Leute. Da sitzen auch noch mal Georg und Gustav und ihr seid ja so’n bisschen die entspannteren, bisschen die ruhigeren, so die ge-chillten. Deswegen bleibt ihr einfach mal hier’ne Runde sitzen und ich nehm’ die beiden, erm… Bengels wollte ich schon sagen… Erm, euch beiden Jungs nehm’ ich mal mit und jetzt spielen wir ’n bisschen.

Also, von daher geht man halt schon danach wer einem so vom Äußerlichen gefällt. Natürlich haben wir aber auch geguckt, so wer sich viel Arbeit gemacht hat. Manchen waren ganz süß und haben noch Gedichte geschrieben und irgendwie schöne Rahmen drum gebastelt und so was. Und wenn man sich dann so viel Mühe gibt, dann guckt man da schon genauer hin. Manche Sachen waren dann eben mit nicht so viel Mühe und die werden dann erst mal schon mal aussortiert und erm… *grinning*
The difficulty lies… There were also always pictures included. And one doesn’t get to know somebody else by looking at a letter. Therefore one also just goes by whose appearance is appealing. Of course we were also looking at who put lots of effort into it. Some were very cute and even wrote poems and somehow put nice frames around it and things like that. And if one puts so much effort into it, then it gets looked at a bit closer. Some things weren’t made with as much effort and so those weren’t even considered and erm… *grinning*
